Is GMO bad for you?
For centuries, farmers and ranchers have been grafting and creating hybrid plants and animals to enhance good characteristics and minimize bad characteristics of the food supply.
Only in recent history have scientists used gene modification to speed up this process.
In my opinion GMO foods are bad for you, if the modification is to allow the plant to withstand a higher concentration of herbicides and pesticides such as RoundUp, which you will end up eating. While the herbicides and pesticides do not directly damage human tissue, they destroy the human microbiome which protects people from environmental contaminants. Thus, GMO foods can lead to conditions such as leaky gut, where contaminants enter the body and cause all kinds of diseases.
On the other hand, where GMO leads to more colorful or sweeter fruits and vegetables, or items that don’t bruise as easily, or even have a longer shelf life, this use of GMO is not necessarily harmful. It may even be beneficial to stretch the life of the world’s limited food supply.
If you are concerned about the potential risks of GMOs increasing your intake of herbicides, consider eating organic and incorporating probiotics into your diet. Probiotics will help protect your gut from leaky gut syndrome and absorption of environmental contaminants in or on your food. Our Gut Optimizer™ Probiotics & FOS formula contains a combination of 10 species and 25 billion beneficial bacteria plus the prebiotic FOS (fructooligosaccharides). Your gut will thank you!
